This month, the Cancer Council urged parents to ditch packing ham sandwiches for their children, out of fear that processed meats were linked to forms of cancer.

While a ham sandwich is a classic lunchbox staple, this new concern has inspired parents to get creative and reach for healthier alternatives (that are just as easy to prepare) when doing the weekly grocery run.

Luckily, from white-bread alternatives to sugar substitutes, we now have more healthy options than ever before.

Below are some delicious alternatives to ham sandwiches that you can pack for your children that won’t make you feel guilty when you send your kids off to school.
